Best ABA Therapy Services for 2024
In anticipation of the New Year, Steps to Progress stands ready to support your family in gearing up for the upcoming year. Here are four impactful ways our ABA therapy services can empower your family to thrive in the year ahead:
In-Clinic ABA Therapy
In a clinical setting, ABA therapy offers a structured environment for children with autism by fostering focused learning and skill development. Our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) have access to specialized resources and create tailored programs for each child in their care. Thus, in-clinic therapy serves as a central hub for targeted interventions, progress tracking, and the development of crucial social skills and behaviors.
We maintain a natural environment at our clinic, with toys, books, and play areas. Our BCBAs purchase toys that are specific to each child’s interests. In addition, our therapists wear badges for identification but everyone dresses casually and there are no uniforms. The goal is to make children and families comfortable, and for children to enjoy being at our clinic and learning new skills.
In-Home ABA Therapy
Tailoring therapy to the home environment is invaluable for the practical, real-life application of skills. In-home ABA therapy allows behavior technicians and therapists to work closely with families. Our team provides support for addressing unique challenges and creating interventions seamlessly integrated into daily routines. It promotes a holistic approach, empowering families to reinforce positive behaviors in the comfort of their homes.
We provide in-home ABA therapy for locations that are within 25 miles of our clinic. If a child needs more support initially we may recommend that services start in the clinic and move to the home setting after the child has mastered certain skills. However, we also understand that some families may need to have services in their homes due to transportation or other issues. Our goal is to provide the best services for the child and also meet each family’s individual needs.
In-School ABA Therapy
We provide ABA services to children with autism in private school settings, with school and insurance company approval. Public schools do not allow behavioral therapists who are not employed by the school district to be in school along with their students. However, we can still support your child in the public school setting.
Our BCBAs can participate in ARD/IEP meetings and help with behavioral goals. In addition, Texas law requires that public schools allow students to leave for ABA therapy appointments. This means that children can continue to receive ABA therapy on a part-time basis while they attend public school, either by attending school for part of the day and ABA therapy for part of the day or by attending school for full days on some days and ABA therapy for full days on other days.
In the Community ABA Therapy
Taking ABA therapy into the community bridges the gap between controlled environments and real-world scenarios. This service emphasizes the generalization of skills, enabling individuals with autism to apply what they’ve learned in various community settings. From navigating social interactions to enhancing communication, community-based ABA therapy promotes independence and inclusion.
In our clinic setting, we are also able to help clients get accustomed to some aspects of activities that may be challenging, such as haircuts, dental appointments, or doctor appointments. Our staff can help them learn to tolerate the sound of hair clippers, open their mouths, and have someone look inside or have someone look in their ears. Our therapists may also accompany parents and their children to certain appointments to help them with situations that may be challenging for the child.
